I love to use all my fun quilt fabrics to make DIY collars for my pooch & always get lots of compliments when about & about with my dog. Or make dog collars from up-cycled denim jeans (no interfacing nor batting needed for the denim version).
 
These are comfortable for the dog to wear and easy to wash when necessary, so why not make one for each day of the week.  And if the collar gets totally worn out, throw the fabric strap away and re-use the buckle hardware for a new collar.

Material requirements:
Fabric strip, stiff interfacing strip, Thermolam batting strip (or similar), 1 x ¾” (20mm) D-ring, polyester sewing thread (it's stronger than cotton!) to match fabric.
Buckle: 1 x ¾” (20mm) plastic side release buckle

For adjustable collar additionally: 1 x ¾” (20mm) plastic strap adjuster slider to match the buckle
