Absolute Basics - Patchwork Quilting class for beginners

This is the prefect way to get involved in quilting or to re-discover it, so please join in!

This is a beginners' class involving basic machine and/or hand constructed quilt techniques. All basic tools & techniques will be covered. You will construct a small quilt or at least start one & you would have acquired enough knowledge to continue at home, so in other words this workshop should give you enough confidence to create a quilt top of your very own!

Absolute Basics - Finishing Your Quilt

Saturday March 24th, 2012
from 10.30am to 2.30pm

Fee £37

Please click here for the requirements list.

This is a follow-on class to the Absolute Basics.

During this finishing class you will make a small quilt from one piece of fabric (we won’t learn about tools nor piecing as these steps are covered during the absolute basics class). The emphases is on learning to layer the quilt top, wadding and backing, then quilt and finally bind it.  You will learn to make straight and bias binding and also learn how to attach it to your quilt. The aim is to give the quilter enough knowledge and confidence to finish their "real" quilt project at home.  Welcome

Tikki has basic sewing machines which you may borrow for £5/class during workshops if required.   Please note that our machines do not have walking (even feed) feet.  They are only suitable for piecing.  But if you can, do bring your own, as it is always easier to work with a machine you are familiar with and not waste time learning to use a new machine.
